New Wonder Woman Set Pics Reveal A Slightly Revamped Costume!

A couple of weeks ago everybody saw the first ever look at Wonder Woman star Adrianne Palicki with the iconic costume. And while that didn't look that bad in my opinion, I think that it could be improved with a few changes. Well, it seems that the show's producer's heard us and they did some minor tweaks to the wardrobe - and now, it looks absolutely better than the first one.

So we got the following changes on the costume:
  1. The freaking red boots - they are AWESOME.  One color change on that part changed everything.
  2. Slightly dark blue color on the pants - I like it better than the bright blue before.
  3. Non-latex/plastic pants - Woohoo! That's more like it.
  4. Gold stars on the sides of the thighs - nice addition that gives a more "Wonder" vibe to it.

Now, check out some of the snapshots and a video from the Hollywood set showing Adrianne Palicki and her stunt-double jumping off cars after the cut.

Comic Book Review: The Walking Dead # 81

The Walking Dead #81
Written by Robert Kirkman
Art by Charlie Adlard
Published by Image Comics

**MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS**

Alright, so I'm back with the latest issue of one of the best serials out there and one of my favorites too, The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman, Charlie Adlard and Tony Moore. And we got a very interesting build-up following issue #80.

By the end of the last issue, we see Jessie kissing Rick and I was thinking what was gonna happen. Is he going to nail her (yeah, I automatically think about sex haha)? And to the best of my expectations, yes folks, Rick nailed the widow (and just to refresh your memory, Jessie is the wife of the guy Rick killed last issue. ). Some might think that what happened between them is wrong... and maybe they're right, but on the other side, this is human nature we are talking about here.

Jimmy Olsen's New Look...

I haven't read a single issue of the Jimmy Olsen Specialwhich is described (at least according to Wikipedia) as a monthly backup for Action Comics focusing on the the adventures of Jimmy Olsen in Metropolis. And after stumbling on the DCU blog The Source with a picture of our favorite Superman sidekick, I just got more interested in reading this to see what the writers has to offer. Besides,  the  comic book version of Chloe Sullivan (an original character from the TV show Smallville) debuted on this monthly title too so that gives me at least two reasons to pick this one up, including this week's issue.

Why the sudden interest you say? Click on the jump so you'd see:

Babe of the Day - "All Star Superman" Lois Lane Voice Act Christina Hendricks

Actress Christina Hendricks (Mad Men, Firefly) recently starred as Superman's girlfriend Lois Lane in the DC Original Animated Video 'All Star Superman' - based on the graphic novels by Grant Morisson and Frank Quitely - which I really liked, including her good voice acting for the single most important woman character in comic book history.

Now, I did a couple of searches for her on the internet and I noticed  she doesn't have much pictures laying around in sexy bikinis (sexiest I ever saw was her spread in the pages of Esquire) .. you know that kind of stuff we see on FHM - which is a shame really, because I honestly think that she's got the most natural and out-of-this-world curves ever.. and the most GI-NOR-MOUS titties out there.  Obviously they're enchanced so to speak, but they really look good on her.

Luckily for me, i stumbled upon UnrealityMag's compilation -15 of her best pictures that a fan could ever find. But there's a bonus:  a super-jackpot-smoking-hot-finger-lickin'-good video of her and another one from Mad Men. Go check it out after the jump:

Action Comics 900 - Variant Cover by Adam Hughes

Saw this on my Facebook wall before I slept yesterday. Awesome work by Adam as usual.

Few comments:

Classic "breaking the chains" pose - which is really dumb in my opinion, because Superman is freaking God-like strong then you put some chains to hold him down? Are you kidding me? Just thinking out loud, here.. but hey, he chain pose is probably one of the most iconic in Supes' and comic book history, so there.

Congratulations to DC for the 900th issue of Action Comics! 100 more to go!

Gorgeous Filipina Celebrities Posing As Rogue and X-23 For Jay Tablante

Here's two more pictures from Jay Tablante's Les Femme Fatales exhibit which took place last February at SM Megamall here in the Philippines and featured  two of our country's top female celebrities: Rhian Ramos and Solenn Heusaff

Hot-damn and kick-ass baby!

See my first feature of some of Mr. Tablante's shots here.

Solenn Heusaff as X-23 showing her nice curves and boobies (photoshopped?). Anyway, what's not to like?

As always Rhian is Rogue. Come on, X-Men producers, give her that role already!

Comic Book Review: Whatever Happened To The Caped Crusader?

Whatever Happened To The Caped Crusader?
Written by Neil Gaiman
Art/Pencils by Andy Kubert
Published by DC Comics

In 2009, DC had to come up with a "final" Batman story in the wake of the mental and emotional struggles that the hero endured in the comic book  Batman RIP then following his ultimate fate in the last pages of the crossover series, Final Crisis. Killing Batman in the comic books for the first time caused quite a  stir and thus the need to follow it up with a story that would show the legacy of the Dark Knight over his 70-year existence.

And what better way to do it than to convince one of the most prolific writers of our time to cook up something good for the fans... which he agreed to almost immediately. The guy assigned for the task: Neil Gaiman. It doesn't get any bigger than that. Why? Because anyone who has read his novels or comic books (such as the critically-acclaimed Sandman) knows that every time his name is on that book/graphic novel's cover, they know that what they are about to read is special.

Then you add in one of the top 10 artists in the comic book world in Andy Kubert and now you got a blockbuster of a tandem that looks to bring a special kind of story featuring one of DC's top heroes.

With that said, I really expected this 2-part tale to be something really fantastic story wise, but I feel like I didn't get the kind of satisfaction that I was looking for after reading it twice. Though its not a garbage of a book, it fails to completely amaze me, save for a few good parts. It was just "OK" with me. Maybe I just expected too much mainly because of Gaiman, I don't know.

Academy Award Nominee Amy Adams Set To Play 'Lois Lane'

Amy Adams, recently coming from  an Academy-award nomination for her work in The Fighter along side Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale was selected to portray intrepid reporter Lois Lane and is the seventh woman to play the role.

At 36 years old, she doesn't really look that old and plus, she's a very mature actress whose acting chops are necessary for the role of Superman's girlfriend. And a little bit of trivia,  Henry Cavill who plays Superman  is a lot more younger than Adams. If you don't believe me, go check out their birth dates yourself.

But that doesn't matter at all. And in my opinion, actually better not to go with a young actress again (see Kate Bosworth). With her casting, I really like where this film is heading for now. Looking good so far.

The still untitled Superman film is directed by Zack Snyder and is scheduled to fly on December 2012.

Single Awesome Art For Today - 03/28/11

Since I'm all Superman, why don't I share to you this gorgeous Lois Lane artwork from our friend Adam Hughes via his deviantArt page. I love the Lois' outfit and the Margot Kidder-esque look going on.

Sitting there on top of the Daily Planet building with the rotating globe in the background. Red sunset, windy afternoon, holding the unmistakable cape and looking at the horizon... Gorgeous piece.

All Star Superman DVD Review (with a little tribute to the late Dwayne McDuffie)

All-Star Superman (a  DC Universe Animated Original Movie)
Released by Warner Premier and Warner Bros. Animation
Run time: 76 minutes
Directed by: Sam Liu
Distributed by: Warner Home Entertainment
Based on the graphic novels by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely
Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster

After months of waiting, I have finally watched this original DC animated film based on the Eisner-award winning graphic novels of writer Grant Morisson and artist Frank Quitely. And though there were some disappointments,  it was sheer joy to see this great Superman tale come to life as it truly captured the essence of Morisson's once in a million Superman story.

First thing's first - I'm glad they used and captured the four-panel-eight-word origin masterpiece of Morrison and Quitely right off All Star Superman # 1.  It summarized everything you need to know about Superman, why he does things and how he came to be the hero that we all know. I was literally having small goosebumps when the panels showed up and the God-like voice over echoed these words: "Doomed planet. Desperate scientists. Last hope. Kindly Couple. Superman." Brillant.

Superman's origin story in EIGHT WORDS.

Then we immediately go to the sabotaged manned mission to the sun led by Dr. Leo Quintum, and of course our hero is forced to save the day once again - but not without a price. Superman's body cells becomes overly saturated with radiation and power from the sun and is now killing him. Yes, the same thing that gave him near God-like powers is destroying his whole system. Literally. And the mastermind of all this? Lex Luthor himself.

Superman, reeling from the revelation that he has only a short time to live, decides to reveal his secret to Lois Lane and even gives her a 24-hour super serum that literally transforms her into a Superwoman as part of a birthday present. Then he goes on to fulfill the greatest feats of his career ... including a last ditch effort to save the world, after Lex Luthor (under the effects of the 24- hour super serum that Superman created) contaminated the sun using the sun-eater Solaris.

New Exclusive 'Captain America The First Avenger' Footage From Entertainment Weekly

Yes, another 'exclusive' footage with some new scenes of the frail/thin/skinny Chris Evans with his head digitally manipulated to fit in some guy's (or might be Dobby) torso. Its horrible. Hopefully it will look better when the movie shows up.

Chris Evans stars in this comic book movie set in the 1940's World War as the army weaking/reject Steve Rogers who volunteers for the  secret Super-Soldier Program and eventually becomes the physical specimen of patriotism - Captain America.  He battles for truth and hopes to deliver some Final Justice on the Nazi invaders led by a sinister villain only known by his code name The Red Skull, played by Hugo Weaving.

Directed by Joe Johnston, Captain America: The First Avenger is scheduled to hit theaters on July 22, 2011.

Kerry Callen's Golden Age Superman Strip Is So Damn Hilarious.

Special thanks again to ComicsAlliance for introducing me to Kerry Callen's blog where I found his absolutely funny comic strip featuring the Golden Age Superman. It cracked me up so good that it immediately became one of my all-time favorite comic book panels/strips of all time. Check it out below.

Callen has done so many amazing renditions of classic comic book panels where he twisted them to make them stranger, funnier or just plain crazier for everyone's viewing pleasure. You can check all of his cool works in his blog.

The Weekend Recap - 03/20/11

I thought of doing this recap thing every week (that is if I had done a lot of things during my day-offs) where I would talk about the different things that I did and saw during the weekend... in short, just about anything under the sun - and I said to myself: "That would be a great idea for my blog!", since I don't have much time to write during work hours unlike before. So, without further ado, the first ever Comically Graphic Weekend Recap:

---

Tantananaaaaa!!!

This is not my dvd box, but I own one. Finally.

Bought an original DVD copy  of the DC Original Animated Series All-Star Superman based on the Eisner-winning graphic novel by writer Grant Morrison and artist Frank Quitely. The packaging is awesome, the dvd box art is simply stunning and its definitely worth adding to my Superman collection. Can't wait to watch it soon. The greatest story of Earth's Greatest Protector is finally in my hands. Bwahahaha! *evil smirk*

Adrianne Palicki In Her 'Wonder Woman' Costume... Boobies + Latex

Yes guys. All in her tight-hugging latex glory, here is Wonder Woman star Adrianne Palicki in her first full costumed photo:

I like the pants thing going on, and Palicki definitely looks fantastic here - but I have a little bit of a problem with the face in this picture. I don't know, it looks like a bad photoshop job. Anyway, let's see how this would look like in the show's fight scenes.

Wonder Woman is a reboot of the 1970's TV series based on the DC comic book heroine and is currently handled by NBC.

Thank you, Rob Pratt for this wonderful work. Genius.

Comic Book Review: Scarlet

Scarlet
Written by Brian Michael Bendis
Art by Alex Maleev
Published by Marvel Comics (under the Icon Imprint)

Why is corruption everywhere? Why do the good guys get killed and jailed, while the bad guys become the heroes? Why isn't anyone doing anything about it? Why?

Those questions get answered in Brian Michael Bendis' bi-monthly comic book series Scarlet, and boy, this is one simple graphic novel that totally hits your brain with a speeding bullet and sends it spinning around like nuts.

As the opening of the comic book says: "This is a story of a girl whose life is destroyed by violence and corruption. And this is the story of how she FIGHTS BACK." Simple as that. Period.

Scarlett is an ordinary girl living in Portland, Oregon, living a normal life, she has a family that cares for her, and a boyfriend that cares for her, but a police frame up shatters her whole life and makes her realize that the world is big piece of trash. Broken. Desolated. Going to hell. And nobody is taking any responsibility for it. Nobody is taking any action to stop the injustice and corruption. Nobody... until her. She is no superhero. No military brat. But she's talking on the world and all its evil with just swagger, courage, guns, and the determination to do what she thinks is right.

Review: Astonishing X-Men Motion Comic

 Astonishing X-Men Motion Comic (Gifted)
Animation by Marvel Knights
Written by Joss Whedon
Art by John Cassaday
Chapters: 6

I am a big fan of Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men and it was very interesting for me to see how it would look like if the whole medium was translated into a motion comic, with the photo-realisitic art of John Cassaday brought to life. So I quickly borrowed a DVD copy of its first comic book arc titled Gifted from one of my colleagues, went home and turned on the home theater set.

Though I already know what the whole premise of the story is -  basically a "mutant cure" claimed to be created by Dr. Kavita Rau is exposed to the world and is causing unrest within the mutant community - I still wanted to see how the whole thing would work in a different form. Take note that reading a comic book is far more different than watching a movie and there is a unique experience reading a graphic novel which cannot be translated. That's why some comic book movie adaptations don't tend to work that well because there are a lot of things that were intended to work ONLY in the book's written pages.

So with that being said, watching the whole 6 chapters of this motion comic I would say was quite fun, and there's a lot of things I would like to point out in the next paragraphs:

Batman Maekz Hulk Angry... Smash Time!!!

These kids are cute.

Jose Rizal Webcomic [Hoy Pinoy!]

This one made me laugh. Imagine Jose Rizal (the Philippine's national hero and patriot) his associates and one of his many señoritas getting jiggy with it on Facebook.

I like the "Its not easy to be me" Superman thingy going on there. LOL

Good job hoypinoy.net! Now if you could just update your site more often.

Francis Manapul Interview With LA Times' Hero Complex [Link]

Its great to see a Filipino comic book artist getting the spotlight in the comic book mainstream, and such is  one of my favorites, Fil-Canadian Francis Manapul who has been incredibly great in his current run on "The Flash" series together with Geoff Johns and it seems like there's nothing that can stop this guy right now running at full speed just like his favorite character.

I featured him and some of his works via his deviantArt page and now, he's got a great nterview with Hero Complex's Geoff Boucher where he talks about his love for DC's ultimate speedster and his patented ink-and-wash style.

Keep up the good work Francis!

No Readings.

It's been a pretty busy week and therefore I am not reading any comic books at the moment. So that's the reason why you don't see any comic book reviews lately, and to be honest I'm pretty tired reading nowadays. I just don't have the passion for it right now. I guess its because of the heavy work load that really requires some good 'ol super speed and level-12 intelligence. Or maybe not...

I was re-reading Watchmen a couple of weeks ago but for some reason I stopped after Book 6 and switched into playing a very very old school video game: Neverwinter Nights. This game eats a lot of my time and energy - hacking and slashing those skeletons, zombies, Gorgons and demons 'till their bones and blood splatter all over the place. And now, I'm really into it. I think I won't be reading comic books for a long time again, unless I get tired of killing monsters of course. Which I highly doubt will be soon.

New 'Super' Trailer Starring The Crimson Bolt and 'Juno'

Obviously, when I said Juno on the title I meant the lovely Ellen Page.

Anyway, 'Super' is an upcoming superhero movie that tells the story of a man who lost his wife (Liv Tyler) to a drug dealer (Kevin Bacon) and decides to become a crime-fighting vigilante in order to become 'interesting' again and get his wife back in the process. He's even gets a sidekick too (played by Ellen Page). Now, this might sound a little bit 'Kick-Ass'-sy to you, but there's a difference:

The protagonist, who eventually becomes 'The Crimson Bolt' (Rainn Wilson), doesn't really know anything about comic books or superheroes unlike what we have seen in Kick-Ass. Plus, this one looks like a big mixture of comedy and violence that would probably make it ridiculous at times but an entertaining one for sure (at least for me). And I cannot miss Ellen Page here. I love her too much. Haha.

Check out the first teaser trailer for the film after the jump:

Entertainment Weekly Pic of Hugo Weaving as The Red Skull!

Captain America The First Avenger is just around the corner, and thanks to Entertainment Weekly (via ComicsAlliance), we finally get a full body shot of Hugo Weaving as Captain America's nemesis in his full Nazi Red Skull costume, complete with utterly gorgeous prosthetics. Here take a look:

The New 'Ma Kent': Diane Lane Will Star In Snyder's Superman Reboot

This is good news, Superman fans! The very beautiful and talented Academy-award winner Diane Lane was cast as good ol' Martha Kent for the Superman film reboot by director Zack Snyder to be released sometime in 2012.
I couldn't be any more pleased with this. She's got the acting chops, the wisdom and the charisma needed to become the only (adoptive) mother that Clark Kent has ever known - the one who shaped young Clark into the man and hero he is going to be, together with 'Pa Kent'. Just look at her credentials and if you've watched her movies (yeah including the sexy ones).. I mean, what more could you ask?

This is grade A casting right here . I hope they pick another good one for Jonathan Kent and General Zod.

'Hello Watchmen' Hits With A Lot Of Cuteness Courtesy of Joseph Senior

I have been keeping an eye on Joseph Senior aka yodaflicker's tumblr that features cute Hello Kitty mash-ups mainly because a Hello_Supergirl kitty could pop out anytime. I actually featured his works before (link here) Yeah, I've been patiently waiting for that . Haha. I think its gonna be good.

But for the meantime, he satisfied my Watchmen cravings with these incredible photoshop designs featuring our favorite 5 disgruntled ex-superheros/vigilantes who, in the comic book (written by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons), were forced to don their costumes again after one of them was brutally murdered as a part of a cataclysmic conspiracy plot. Now, they're all immortalized (once again) with the most popular feline in the world.

Check them out here and more after the jump.

The indestructible Dr. Manhattan (Jon Osterman)

Arguably the most popular Watchmen of all time. Rorschach (Walter Kovacs)

2nd 'Thor' Trailer

Here is the 2nd trailer for the upcoming superhero film starring Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman. This one looks more bad-ass than the first one, with more hammer-throwing and Ultraman-like villains on the loose.

Stressed.

I need a rest. I need time off from work and all the chaos that surrounds it. I think I need a whole week away from the corporate world. And NO, 2 days of the weekend will not cut it, and I don't have that much MPLs to use. Lord, help me.
